Video installations

IMG_2778.jpg

Video installations with artistic performances collectively constructed by Black women artists based on African and contemporary dance and the idea of corporeality (body and orality) that Black bodies have historically carried, referencing the four elements that govern nature: air, fire, water, and earth , in a proposal to connect these Black female bodies, through art and art-activism, with their ancestry, with feminine sacredness, and with nature.

Another video installation presents testimonies from Black women about their experiences and subjectivities. In response to the question of what it means to be a Black woman in Brazilian society—and how much this sharing can be personal and collective for them in many aspects—the women who narrate and discuss aspects of their life trajectories include actresses Dani Ornellas, Luana Xavier, and Danielle Anatólio; writers Stephanie Ribeiro, Carolina Rocha, Dandara Barbosa, and Simone Ricco; and educator Camilla Ribeiro.
